Bald eagle dies after colliding with windshield

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A bald eagle died Tuesday after it collided with a windshield.

It was rescued by a Washington State trooper and was transported to a rehab facility.

Trooper Russ Winger tweeted that the bald eagle was “flying too low this am on SR16 and collided with a truck.”

Unfortunately, later in the day the trooper tweeted a sad update, saying the majestic bird perished from its injuries.

A rehabilitation center they rushed the bird to reported the injuries were too severe. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
