BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo Police officer has been convicted of driving while ability impaired following a car crash at Allen and Main Street from early last month.
On March 4, around 9 p.m., a driver on Allen St. was waiting for a traffic light to turn green when he was struck by a car driven by 23-year police force veteran Dave Rodriguez, 49. The waiting driver’s car suffered minor damage and Rodriguez was charged with DWI.
Following the incident, prosecutors say Rodriguez refused sobriety tests and was suspended with pay. He remains suspended while authorities investigate the case.
In a court appearance, Rodriguez was sentenced to a conditional discharge, meaning he must live a law-abiding life for one year. Also, his driver’s license was suspended for 90 days.
