Local school principal sentenced to community service after committing insurance fraud

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo school principal who admitted to insurance fraud in January has been sentenced to 50 hours of community service.

Parette Walker, 53, who serves as principal of P.S. 64 Frederick Law Olmsted School, was placed on paid administrative leave after officials said she collected disability benefits that she was not entitled to.

Walker has since repaid those funds, which were collected from First Unum Life Insurance Company.

She was sentenced on Wednesday.
