Man who approached female students at UB lecture hall identified

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Officers at a local university say they’ve identified a man who approached women early in the morning at a campus lecture hall and asked for sex.

University at Buffalo police say a man in his mid 20’s approached two females who were studying on the first floor of O’Brian Hall on Tuesday at about 1 a.m. They found security footage of the man, and were able to identify him a day later.

Police described his actions as concerning, but not criminal, inferring they did not charge or arrest him.

The young women who issued the complaint said they were able to escape him after he asked for sex, even though he allegedly followed them Knox Hall.

Police thanked the public for their help and said they keep student safety as a top concern.
