Sheriff: Inmate tries to smuggle narcotic in Erie Co. jail

ALDEN, N.Y. (WIVB) — Authorities at the Erie County Correctional Facility in Alden say an inmate tried to smuggle a narcotic in the jail.

After a visit with a guest, corrections officers say they noticed Michael Johnson, 31, take something from his mouth and put it in his shoe.

Officers say they discovered a white Suboxone pill in his shoe during a search.

Following this, Johnson was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of contraband. He will also face administrative disciplinary charges from jail supervisors.
