Blue Jays and Bisons agree to extend affiliation

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — For at least two more years, the Bisons will have ties with their northern neighbors in the Toronto Blue Jays.

A new extension to the team’s affiliation agreement will keep the Triple-A team as the Blue Jays affiliate through the 2018 season.

Bisons leadership considers the partnership a success, saying in three seasons, the 219 games the team has won is more in a three-year stretch than in nearly a decade.

“We are appreciative of the dynamic in Buffalo and feel that because of the Rich family, the exceptional front office and the support of a great city — there is no one we would rather be affiliated with,” Blue Jays President and CEO Mark Shapiro said to the Buffalo Bisons official website.

Last season, over 551,000 fans visited Coca-Cola Field to watch Bisons games — the highest since 2010.
