BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A string of raids executed across Buffalo over the weekend led police to seize guns, drugs and cash whilst making multiple arrests.
Buffalo Police’s Narcotics Squad raided homes on Riley Street, Rother Avenue and Warren Avenue on Saturday and Sunday. Officers say in three raids, they made six arrests.
Police said the raids “may have put a dent in the illegal drug trade on the city’s east side.”
The squad began on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. on Riley Street, where they entered a home, armed with a search warrant, locating cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and over $3,500 in cash. Police say they seized a pit bull and turned it over to Buffalo’s Animal Control department.
Further information gained by both officers in and outside of uniform led police to continue on to Rother Avenue that evening where they seized 25 bags of heroin, quantities of crack cocaine, marijuana and controlled pills.
On Sunday, police used additional information uncovered in the investigation to raid the Warren Avenue home, seizing over 60 bags of heroin, a quantity of pot and over $4,200 in cash. Officers on the scene say their K-9 partners alerted them to more drugs in nearby cars. Police then obtained further search warrants and located four and a half ounces of heroin, 400 packaged bags of heroin and a quantity of cocaine.
Along with the huge amount of drugs, police seized two loaded handguns and a .22 caliber long-rifle, with additional ammunition nearby.
Charged in the string of busts include:
- Tracy Bankston, Nicol Handmore and Jessica Martinez — both of Buffalo, from the Riley Street raid.
- Jose Lopez — of Buffalo, from the Rother Avenue raid.
- Luiz Matias and Kiramaite Molina — of Buffalo, from the Warren Avenue raid.
