Erie Co. Sheriff’s deputy accused of smuggling drugs to inmates

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — An Erie County Sheriff’s deputy is facing felony bribery and drug charges after authorities say he was smuggling Suboxone to inmates at the Erie County Holding Center.

Adam Fiegl, 32, had been assigned to the Holding Center. Following the execution of a search warrant, members of the Sheriff’s Office say they found a quantity of Suboxone and $200 in Fiegl’s possession.

Deputies say Fiegl, a resident of Orchard Park, had been accepting bribes to smuggle drugs into the facility. He has been charged with three felonies — introducing contraband into a prison, criminal possession of a controlled substance and receiving a bribe.

Following this, Fiegl was jailed in Niagara County before his arraignment in Buffalo City Court.

Now awaiting a felony hearing, he is currently suspended from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office without pay and is being held without bail.
