Around 11:38 p.m. April 11, crews responded to a fire at 18 Worth Ave. Police said Palmatier called 911 and said people may still be inside, and they were unable to escape due to heavy smoke and fire.

Two victims were trapped in their second floor apartment and needed to be rescued by firefighters through a second story window. They were uninjured.

Following an investigation, detectives found Palmatier intentionally set the fire in an enclosed porch area with a lighter. Police said her motive was her dislike of other tenants in the building.

Palmatier was arraigned and sent to jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail. She is scheduled to return to Hudson City Court on April 26.
