Study: Childhood cancer survivors have similar health to middle-aged adults

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WIVB) — A new study of childhood cancer survivors finds their overall health is similar to that of middle-aged adults.

Researchers at Harvard looked at survivors who are now 18-29 years old. Only 20 percent were free of chronic conditions.

These survivors often have a higher risk of heart disease, recurring cancer and other chronic health problems related to their previous surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
