Scholar Athlete: James Schaab-Rozbicki

The Williamsville North senior juggles academics, athletics... and volunteer firefighting

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — Life for James Schaab-Rozbicki is a plunge into school, into sports and into volunteer firefighting, with little time to come up for air.

“I definitely strive to be the best at what I do, yep,” he says.

“James is one of those kids every coach glows about,” says Williamsville North tennis coach Mike Venditti. “He’s always the first one there, last one to leave.”

On the tennis court, he’s the Spartans’ top singles player and a team captain. And perhaps a second captaincy awaits James as a firefighter, where after many long hours training at boot camp, he’s a lieutenant.

“I’m a firefighter at the North Amherst Fire Company, it’s been a good ride so far,” he says.

He also maintains a GPA just below 100 and is a member of the National Honors Society.
