Detectives make 2nd arrest in Onondaga Nation murder

ONONDAGA, N.Y. (AP) — Sheriff’s detectives have charged a second person in connection with the death of a 33-year-old man found in a vacant lot on the Onondaga Nation in central New York.

Twenty-three-year-old Cree Cathers of Syracuse was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Town of Onondaga Court for manslaughter.

Cathers and 22-year-old Jacob Homer of Syracuse are accused of causing the death of Carl Kettle of Salamanca after the two were involved in a fight with the victim.

Homer was charged Saturday evening, 13 hours after Kettle’s body was discovered.

Both men are being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center. It couldn’t immediately be determined if they have an attorney. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
