#MoreThanMean – Women in Sports ‘Face’ Harassment

(KSNW) — A video making the rounds on social media is starting a conversation about the harassment of women sports broadcasters to their face. The video shows men reading mean tweets to ESPN reporter, Sarah Spain and Cubs blogger, Julie DiCaro.

It’s called the “More Than Mean” campaign. The men were not allowed to look over the tweets before sitting down and reading them to the women. At first, the men along with the broadcasters took the comments in stride, but eventually the comments became increasingly crass and personal. The men reading the tweets at times became speechless and uncomfortable saying the tweets aloud.

The message behind the Just Not Sports video is clear “We wouldn’t say it to their faces, so let’s not type it,” scrolls across the screen before showing the men apologizing that the women have to endure the online criticism.
