Fire in meth lab leads police to bust WNY man

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) — After fighting a blaze in an apartment building in Jamestown, firefighters tipped off police that they saw multiple items in the home which may be linked to meth production, leading to the arrest of a local man.

Officials say they investigated the floor on which the fire started, locating items commonly found in a meth lab. Jamestown Police say they then arrested the occupant of the apartment, 36-year-old Richard Brown.

Brown faces charges of third-degree felony unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine, and likely more as investigation continues into the fire.

The local man is behind bars in the Chautauqua County Jail, he’ll return to court at a later date. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
