Gowanda woman, former NYS employee, admits to spending state funds on groceries, beauty supplies

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A judge required Corrine Alexander, a former New York State employee, repay stolen funds after admitting to crimes in Erie County court.

Officials say Alexander pleaded guilty to fourth-degree attempted grand larceny over spending government funds on personal goods. Investigators say she worked for the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and used a government-issued credit card on groceries and beauty items.

The purchases racked up between April of 2014 and September of 2015, but officials caught on, leading the 37-year-old to be arrested and charged.

Alexander faces up to a year behind bars when she’s sentenced on July 25.
