BPS BoE majority rejected in election, only Paladino remains

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — One of the most hotly contested Buffalo Board of Education battles in years came to a head Tuesday night, with polls closing at 9 p.m.

Candidates battled it out in five of six districts, with only one district staying unopposed. Results rolled in here, allowing the Board of Elections to call winners. The results shattered a former board majority.

Sharon Belton-Cottman won her unopposed battle in Ferry District.

Hope Jay won her battle against an incumbent in North District.

Theresa Harris-Tigg won her battle in the East District.

Paulette Woods prevailed in her battle in the Central District.

Carl Paladino prevailed in his Park District.

Jennifer Mecozzi ousted the former School Board President in her West District.
