Fredonia mother accused of driving while on drugs during crash with toddler in car

TOWN OF BRANT, N.Y. (WIVB) — Authorities in Erie County say a Fredonia mother was on drugs when she crashed her vehicle with a toddler inside.

On Tuesday morning, members of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office say Alyssa Bishop, 30, crashed into a ditch in the Town of Brant, leading her vehicle to strike a mailbox and land on its hood.

She and her two-year-old daughter were subsequently hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Drug recognition experts from the Town of Tonawanda Police Department investigated the incident, and ended up charging Bishop with aggravated DWI while having a child younger than 16 in the vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office did not say Bishop had been drinking alcohol, nor did they specify what drugs they believe she was on at the time. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
