Local man sentenced to 5 years behind bars for trafficking meth

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Years after an investigation began into gang-related methamphetamine trafficking in western New York, 57-year-old Gordon Montgomery is heading to prison for 5 years for the crime.

Investigators say they’ve been investigating New York operations of the Hell’s Angels motorcycle club. Working to piece information together, officers say they learned Gordon took part in club-related operations to pick up drugs and distribute them in other parts of the country.

Police say Montgomery, of Batavia, went to California twice to obtain loads of meth from a Hell’s Angel chapter president there. The information all came together as seven local men and women were charged and convicted in connection with Montgomery’s case.

Following his conviction, a judge Wednesday sentenced Montgomery to 60 months — five years — behind bars in federal prison.

A host of others in the case await sentencing.
