More than a dozen cars vandalized in Buffalo’s Hertel & Parkside areas

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) —  More than a dozen cars vandalized in Buffalo’s Hertel & Parkside areas. Police believe a vandal, or vandals are using a BB gun to shoot at cars.

According to the Buffalo Police Department, investigators believe the vandalism happened over the course of two days, mostly during the late or overnight hours.

News 4 spoke to one man who thought he was being targeted. Raymond Backey says he was coming home on Tuesday night, when he heard the sounds of a BB gun going off. He says he hit the ground, but when he got back up he saw a car with a passenger speeding down Crescent Avenue shooting at nearby cars.

Backey said, “When I ran to the corner, they passed by, I could hear clink! clink! clink! clink! clink! They just kept shooting cars at random. It doesn’t make any sense, why would somebody do this to hard working peoples cars and their vehicles, we don’t bother anybody. We go to work, we come home, we have people jogging around her, running around here, the kids are out here playing, luckily it was late at night, and not during the daytime.”

Police are currently investigating the matter. They’re asking anyone with information to call 851-4413, or 911 if you see a crime in progress or anything suspicious.
