Students participate in day of service

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Niagara Catholic Junior and Senior High students and faculty took the day off from class on Tuesday to make a difference in their community. Each spring, they set aside a “Day of Caring,” and volunteer at dozens of sites throughout Niagara County.

Some students cleaned the church pews at the parish connected to their feeder elementary school, Catholic Academy. Others playing bingo or baked with residents at nursing homes, helped with gardening, or at food pantries.

The Day of Caring tradition is now in its third year, and it is just one way the Niagara Catholic curriculum puts an emphasis on helping others. This year, the students there will complete one thousand hours of service to the community.
