BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A New York Democrat from the western New York area will be required to cooperate in an investigation into the Buffalo Billion by federal prosecutor Preet Bharara’s office.
Bharara, who heads up the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, is looking into all parts of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s large taxpayer-funded plan to revitalize the Buffalo area with $1 billion. As part of that probe, they’ve called on a long-time Democrat in Erie County who worked in the Cuomo administration in Peter Cutler.
Cutler, who currently is the head of communications for the Erie County Medical Center, said he departed Cuomo’s administration recently for the position. He said he intends to fully cooperate with Bharara’s investigation.
Although it’s not known what information Bharara wants from the insider, the prosecutor is investigating under the table dealings which may have defrauded taxpayers.
Gov. Cuomo recently announced he is also supporting an investigation to ensure there was no malfeasance.
