Local corrections officer charged after allegedly buying clothes for inmate

ALBION, N.Y. (WIVB) — A corrections officer in Albion has been accused of inappropriately interacting with an inmate.

New York State Police in Albion say Andrea Benke frequently spoke with an inmate via prepaid phones at the facility during business hours. Authorities say she also bought them clothing.

State Police did not specify where the inmate was being held.

Benke was charged with official misconduct and will appear in Town of Albion Court later this month.
