Man arrested for firing off shots on Mother’s Day after brief chase

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man is facing charges of firing off shots on Mother’s Day, drawing a police response.

Officials say they only obtained a description of the vehicle with the help of  cameras at Genesee Street and Walden Avenue. On Monday afternoon, officers say they located a vehicle in the Ferry-Fillmore area a day later at about 5 p.m.

A chase ensued, leading the suspect to eventually bail out of his vehicle and attempt to escape on foot. That’s when police say they arrested 21-year-old DeShaun Goodwin.

Officers say they searched yards Goodwin had passed through and located a loaded handgun nearby, leading police to charge him with criminal possession of a weapon, unlawfully fleeing a police officer, resisting arrest and other crimes.

Police say he’ll return to court at a later date. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
