Police: Drunk Rochester student steals ambulance from medics treating other drunk man

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WIVB) — Emergency responders were temporarily left without a vehicle after police say a drunk college student stole an ambulance early Friday morning.

Officials with Rural Metro were at the University of Rochester campus on Library Road treating an intoxicated man around 2:20 a.m., according to Rochester Police.

This is when authorities say university student Robert Cordaro, 22, got into the medics’ ambulance and drove away with it.

Cordaro only drove about a quarter of a mile before going off the road and getting stuck in a Trustee Road flower bed, police say.

The damaged ambulance had to be towed away and Cordaro was charged with grand larceny, criminal mischief, DWI, and a slew of vehicle and traffic violations.
