Williamsville business makes capes, helps kids around the world feel like super heroes

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — A local business is helping kids around the world feel like super heroes. The couple who owns it reaches thousands of people from their home in Williamsville.

Alyssa and Brian Wolfe started “Pip and Bean” in 2009 when they lived in Indiana. It initially began as a way to get Brian through grad school but quickly turned into a successful business.

The couple creates a line of personalized capes for kids, adults, and even dogs. They make up to 4,000 capes a year out of their Willimasville home.

Pip & Bean has had customers from all 50 states and more than 25 countries around the world.

“I think especially with children there’s so much in their world they can’t control and so a super hero cape is something that lets them be their own hero, like they don’t have to think of Superman or Batman saving the day, they’re saving the day. We get orders from England, Ireland, France, Australia, Canada, you name it people everywhere need capes so it doesn’t matter what language you speak super hero is a worldwide thing,” said Alyssa Wofle, Pip & Bean Co-Owner.

There’s also a buy one give one program so you can buy a super hero cape for your child and also donate one to a child in need for a cheaper price.
