Aide to Sen. Schumer arrested on drug charges

STONY POINT, N.Y. (AP) — Sen. Charles Schumer is placing his Hudson Valley regional director on leave while authorities investigate drug charges against him.

Schumer’s spokesman, Angelo Roefaro, says Wednesday that Schumer, a New York Democrat, was shocked and saddened by the news of Cody Peluso’s arrest.

The 32-year-old Peluso, of Carmel, was arrested Monday after being pulled over in Stony Point.

Stony Point Police Lt. Keith Williams says Peluso was arrested on charges he possessed prescription pills and steroids.

Peluso was released on $100 bail later Monday and is scheduled to appear in court in June.
