LANCASTER, N.Y. (WIVB) — After stealing from the Lancaster School District for nearly a year, a former school employee has admitted to her crimes.
Authorities indicted Rhonda Greco, 47, on charges of grand larceny and ten counts of falsifying business records earlier this year.
Between September 2014 and October 2015, Greco took advantage of her position in the school’s Accounts Payable department to steal more than $3,400 from the district. Prosecutors say she used the money to pay for her NYSEG, National Fuel and Verizon Wireless bills.
Greco did this ten times. When confronted about the missing money, she resigned from her position after working at the district since 2009.
Greco has been ordered to make full restitution for the stolen money. She could spend up to seven years in prison when sentenced on August 1.
