BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Ahead of the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500 and the newly announced INDYCAR Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, driver Josef Newgarden visited Western New York to eat at Anchor Bar and talk about both races.
Newgarden, who will starting on the front line at this years Indy 500, said he was excited to visit Buffalo and eat some chicken wings.
“My dad is actually from here, I have never been up here before, but I have some history here. We are just want to get the word out that we are going back to the Glen with INDYCAR racing,” Newgarden said. “We also want people to tune into the 500. If they haven’t heard of it or watched it they are in for something special.”
The Indy 500 is set to take off a little after noon on Sunday.
As for INDYCAR returning to Watkins Glen, the race is scheduled for Labor Day weekend. It will be the first time since 2010 that an INDYCAR race will take place at the Glen.
