Canisius nabs ex-UB coach Reggie Witherspoon

Witherspoon spent 14 seasons with the Bulls.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A week after Jim Baron announced his retirement from basketball coaching the Golden Griffs turned to a familiar face to fill his shoes.

Reggie Witherspoon, who was the head coach at UB for 14 seasons will take over head coaching duties for the men’s basketball team. Witherspoon was fired in 2013 after a 14-20 season with the Bulls.

The last two seasons Witherspoon has worked as an assistant in programs in the south, most recently as an aide for University of Tennessee Chattanooga.

Canisius athletics will introduce Witherspoon at a press conference on Tuesday.
