Toy dealer hits Buffalo, turns locals trash into treasure

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) –  The “Toy Scout” is spending Memorial Day Weekend in Western New York. People from the area are selling him their beloved vintage toys from their youth. Vintage collectives are big business today and now some of you are getting in on the action.

The show will feature vintage toys from days gone by. Local residents may be bringing in their Star Wars action figures, Transformers, Hot Wheels, Barbie dolls, 1960s comic book collection, and much more.

Joel Magee offers on-the-spot cash payments for popular toys from the 20th century and earlier for the hundreds of people who are expected to bring their childhood friends and hobbies to the Buffalo Vintage Toy Buying Show.

Magee said nostalgia makes this business. He said, “When people get older in life, it’s fun to visit your childhood again. Now you can. It’s like transporting you into a time portal.”

“Whether in perfect, unused condition or broken with missing pieces,” Magee said, “feel free to bring your vintage toys and childhood memorabilia for a pleasant, hassle-free offer and selling experience without long lines or uncomfortable waiting periods.”

The Buffalo Vintage Toy Buying Show, which will be held at the Courtyard Buffalo, 4100 Sheridan Drive, is open from 9:30-5 p.m. daily. Admission and parking are free.
