PORTER, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 14-year-old and a 17-year-old were taken into custody on Wednesday as police investigated a burglary in progress.

Niagara County Sheriff’s Deputies say they were alerted to a burglary when a neighbor saw suspicious people entering a nearby home on Ransomville Road.

When arriving on the scene, police say they found the teens inside the home, having broken in through a screen window. They allegedly had pocketed $300.

The 17-year-old, identified as Matthew Zaifert, faces charges of second-degree burglary and petit larceny. The 14-year-old faces charges in Family Court.
