Scooter driver allegedly tries to flee police in Riverside

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Just after 1 a.m. on Thursday morning, Buffalo Police arrested a man on a motorized scooter after he allegedly failed to stop for a marked patrol vehicle.

Denzel Maye, 19, a Buffalo resident, was driving the scooter with no license plate, inspection or safety equipment, according to police.

The chase began at Ontario and Saratoga, and continued down several streets in the wrong direction, eventually ending at the first block of Progressive Ave.

Maye was charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer while operating a vehicle without a license, as well as several other traffic infractions. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
