Buffalo to remember last wrestling event in Aud with event at RiverWorks

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The last event to ever take place in Buffalo Memorial Auditorium happened twenty years ago. This July, that event will be commemorated.

In honor of 1996’s “Wrestling Legends of the Aud, a Tribute to Ilio DiPaolo,” Buffalo RiverWorks will host “Wrestling Legends of the Aud 20th Anniversary” on July 23.

The original event featured professional wrestling stars of the era, such as Sting, Ric Flair and “Macho Man” Randy Savage, in attendance. This year’s event will once again honor Buffalo-based wrestler Ilio DiPaolo and feature well-known wrestlers of today, such as “Big Time” Bill Collier and “The Franchise” Shane Douglas.

In addition, the former leader of the now-defunct World Championship Wrestling Eric Bischoff, Jimmy Hart and other legends will appear.

Proceeds from the event will again champion the Buffalo Children’s Hospital and the Ilio DiPaolo Scholarship Fund. Tickets are slated to sell for $40 in the VIP section, and $25 or $20 in general admission.
