MIDDLEBURY, N.Y. (WIVB) — Two Wyoming County grandparents are accused of chaining a 16-year-old boy to a bed multiple times.
New York State Police in Warsaw received a tip about an “uncontrollable” teenager that led them to a home on Blackhouse Rd. in the town of Middlebury.
During the investigation of George Colton, 56, and Shirley Sherwood, 50, State Police ended up arresting them.
Authorities say the two used a 15-foot-long dog chain and three padlocks to keep the boy on his bed. This was allegedly done during the night as well as other times as a means to control him.
Both Colton and Sherwood were charged with endangering the welfare of a child and felony unlawful imprisonment before they were jailed without bail.
