Woman accused of stealing thousands from elderly family member

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — A local woman is behind bars, accused of stealing tens of thousands from her elderly family member, police say.

Niagara County Sheriff’s Deputies worked together with other county resources to investigate Adrienne Wheeler, 62, on the suspicion that she stole money from her 94-year-old relative.

What they found uncovered at least $18,000 in unlawfully withdrawn money over a seven-month period, police say.

Now, Wheeler faces charges of second-degree possession of a forged instrument and third-degree grand larceny.

Wheeler was jailed on $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond following her arraignment.
