NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) — Charges are expected to be filed Friday after a 22-year-old man crashed into a child getting off a school bus in Niagara Falls.
Officers rushed to the scene of a motor vehicle crash with a child involved on Friday afternoon as school let out and called for first responders to bring a 7-year-old with serious injuries to Women and Children’s Hospital.
Police say they arrested the driver of a dirt bike who drove the wrong way down the the one way street near Ferry Avenue and 24th Street.
The bus had its flashing lights and stop sign on at the time of the crash, but that did not stop the wrong-way driver.
Officers have declined to release the man’s name yet, but say he faces charges of reckless driving, driving the wrong way on a one-way street, passing a school bus, driving without a license among other New York State traffic law charges.
It’s not currently known what condition the child is in, but police say injuries weren’t expected to be life threatening.
