Police: Woman stopped driving wrong way down I-290 while drunk

TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Officers say they stopped a drunken driver who could have caused a great deal of damage while driving the wrong way down I-290.

Officers rushed to the eastbound lanes of the expressway on Thursday just after 5:30 p.m., stopping Tanya Muscato, a 39-year-old West Seneca resident, who had been driving in a westbound direction.

Following a battery of tests, police say they learned Muscato drove with a .22 percent blood alcohol content — more than twice the legal limit.

Muscato faces charges of aggravated DWI and will return to court later in June.
