Investigators determine Batavia house fire that killed twin toddlers started in their bedroom

BATAVIA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Investigators are still working to determine how a deadly fire that killed two twin boys in Batavia started.

The fire killed both Michael and Micah Gard the night of May 20th. Investigators determined the boys were alone in the house the time the fire started, before 10 pm.

According to deputies the fire did begin in the boys bedroom, and they have determined that it was not electrical in nature.

The children’s mother returned home shortly after the fire started.
