Teen pleads guilty to murdering a 31-year-old in parking lot

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo teen admitted Wednesday to pulling the trigger on a 31-year-old victim, killing him in a convenience store’s parking lot.

Prosecutors announced the guilty plea on Tuesday, saying 16-year-old Alonte Works, who was 15-years-old at the time of the shooting, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. He admitted to killing 31-year-old Jonathan Jones on Fillmore Avenue in October of 2015 by shooting him.

Works will be sentenced as a juvenile offender and will be sentenced to a maximum of 10-years-to-life when sentenced in August.
