Woods, Lewis improving Bills receiver stock

While Sammy Watkins is out with injury, duo has impressed Bills coaching staff.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – If one position stands out among the rest at Bills minicamp, it might be wide receiver. Especially due to the players not getting work in like Sammy Watkins and Marquise Goodwin who is on the sidelines. And yet, the Bills didn’t draft a receiver this year until round six. It appears they are rolling the dice at the position and counting on Robert Woods to make improvements.

“Robert Woods has made huge strides, big time. He has changed his running form,” Bills wide receiver’s coach Sanjay Lal said. “I know he was injured last year and you can see after the surgery he is a different player.”

Lal added that Woods groin injury last year wouldn’t even allow him to do simple techniques.

As for a player who has made the biggest strides at camp so far it would be Dez Lewis. The 6’4′ second-year receiver has shown flashes of talent, now coaches are noticing a lot more consistency.

“I feel great, I feel good to be here now,” Lewis said. “I am not over stressed or overthinking anything like in my rookie year. That was the main thing, I was just too hard on myself last year because I know I could have been better, the coaches as well. So, I am glad they a chance they to stick around and they really helped me become that person now.”
