Rosado confirmed as 66th Secretary of State

ALBANY, N.Y. (WIVB) — New York State’s 66th Secretary of State was confirmed without opposition by the State Senate Wednesday.

Journalist and Westchester resident Rossana Rosado was nominated by Gov. Andrew Cuomo for the position back in February.

An award-winning producer, Rosado served as the first woman to become editor and publisher of El Diario La Prensa — the country’s largest Spanish-language newspaper.

From 2012 to 2015, Rosado also served on the board of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. In addition to this, she has been a member of John Jay College’s Foundation Board of Trustees since 2012.

“I want to thank Governor Cuomo for nominating me to this important post and the New York State Senate for their confirmation,” said Secretary Rosado. “It is a great honor to serve the Governor and the people of this great State.”
