ALBION, N.Y. (WIVB) — A combined effort by various local law enforcement officers resulted in a major drug arrest in Orleans County.
The Orleans County Major Felony Task Force worked with Albion Police and the Sheriff’s Offices of both Orleans and Genesee Counties to place charges against Texas resident Daniel Guzman, 29, and 31-year-old Luis Alberto Sanchez-Garza, who lives in Mexico.
While investigating the sale and distribution of cocaine from Texas to Orleans County, authorities stopped the two men driving on East Ave. in Albion.
Police provided a dog to sniff out potential drugs in their possession, and authorities say they ended up finding them hidden in the vehicle’s engine.
What officers allegedly found was one kilogram of cocaine, which has a street value of more than $150,000.
Both men were charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance — Guzman in the first degree, and Sanchez-Garza in the third degree. Authorities say more charges and arrests are pending.
Following this, the men were arraigned in Town of Albion Court and committed to the Orleans County Jail without bail.
