BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — More than $75,000 in illegal fireworks were blasted off the street on Wednesday when police say they raided a self-storage unit on the corner of William and Broadway.

Officials say they were tipped off to a large amount of illegal fireworks inside the unit, prompting the response of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad, SWAT, the ATF and other agencies.

Inside, they found a huge cache of fireworks, and they weren’t just sparklers. Authorities confiscated and tallied up their seizure, announcing the seized explosives had a value of at least $75,000.

Investigation is continuing into the bust, but it’s likely the fireworks would have been used on the upcoming 4th of July celebrations.
