BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The projected top picks in this years NHL draft are getting a closer look at this year’s host city.
On Wednesday afternoon a handful of hopefuls visited Coca Cola field and hung out with the Bisons, participating in batting practice during team warm ups.
Thursday morning the guys hit the ice at HarborCenter to host a clinic for youth players and then boarded a bus for Niagara Falls.
They toured the Niagara Falls State Park and then took a ride on the Maid of the Mist. The last few days have been jam packed but it comes as a welcomed distraction leading up to Friday night.
“They’re really fun,” Canadian prospect Pierre-Luc Dubois said. “It helps to not think about the draft too much but if you would’ve told me a year ago that I would’ve been doing this, I wouldn’t believe you.”
“It’s been good,” projected top pick Auston Matthews added. “All the facilities and everything have been first class so I think everybody’s really enjoyed their time here. They put on a great show for us, so it’s been good.”
The NHL Draft begins at 7 p.m. on Friday night.
