Orchard Park woman accused of setting father’s house on fire twice

ARCADE, N.Y. (WIVB) — An Orchard Park woman has been accused of setting her father’s house on fire — twice.

In late March of last year, a fire was started in the home of Arcade resident Thomas Capell while family members were there. The blaze began in the basement.

The next morning, Wyoming County Sheriff’s deputies say another fire was started in a second-floor bedroom closet.

More than a year later, on June 30, Capell’s daughter Jody Nelligan, 40, was arrested and charged with starting the fires.

Nelligan faces two felony counts each of arson and perjury. She was jailed in Wyoming County on $25,000 bail and will return to court in September.
