Woman stopped for alleged speeding, accused of driving drunk with child

MAYVILLE, N.Y. (WIVB) — Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies say a woman was accused of driving drunk with a child in her vehicle late at night.

Deputies say they noticed Jamestown resident Amber Rasmussen, 28, speeding through the Village of Mayville shortly before midnight on Sunday.

When they stopped her, deputies began an investigation and accused her of driving drunk.

During this time, a child younger than 16 was in the vehicle was Rasmussen. Deputies did not provide the child’s specific age.

Rasmussen was charged with felony DWI (Leandra’s Law,) unlicensed operation and other traffic violations. She will appear in Chautauqua Town Court to answer the charges.
