Hoyt Lake’s missing fountain behind the water’s green coloring

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Walking around Hoty Lake is a favorite past time for many during the Buffalo summers. This summer, however, it’s missing an ornamental piece and it’s making the water look green.

City and Olmsted Parks Conservancy officials tell us the combination of heat, little rain and a broken fountain is the cause of the green, murky water.

The fountain’s pump is currently broken. Operations crews spent the day on the water, dismantling the pump and analyzing the situation. Olmsted Parks workers have contacted the vendor, trying to find the right piece to fix it.  The park officials do not know if it will be able to be fixed this summer.
