Utilizing the waterfront: plans are in the works to open Buffalo Beach Club

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The co-owner’s behind some popular Buffalo restaurants are looking to expand their reach and open a beach club at 301 Ohio Street.

“This project is going to be unique like no other,” said Charlie Barone, one of the owners. “It’ll be a daytime, weather-enjoyable atmosphere with games, music. It’ll be a chance to enjoy the waterfront.”

The plan, which is in the works right now, is for the beach club to take over half of the first floor at the building, owned by Ellicott Development. It’ll include 600 feet of dock space, several thousand square feet indoors and Barone says it should be able to hold a few hundred people.

“It’s another area that’s evolving,” said Barone. “We want to be a part of it. We see a window of opportunity to put something there and when our group puts their minds to it, we take action.”

Barone says there’s an open market for waterfront development.

“I think we’re going to see more and more people taking advantage of our waterfront and we want to be a part of it while it’s happening.”
