AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Boulevard Mall has gone up for sale.
Forest City, who developed the mall back in 1962, told News 4 that they plan to focus on their core markets, such as New York City, Boston, Dallas and San Francisco. Because of this, the developers plan to sell their properties in non-core or legacy markets like those in Buffalo and Cleveland.
“We use proceeds from these sales to invest in new opportunities in core markets and to reduce debt,” Forest City Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications and Community Relations Jeff Linton said.
Since 1962, the mall has undergone numerous renovations. It is not clear what will happen to the stores in the mall once a sale takes place.
The process has just begun, but should be a “seamless transition to new owners,” according to Linton.
It could be several months before the property is sold.
