Community event remembers Buffalo man killed in senseless shooting


BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Stop the Violence Coalition took over Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Buffalo Saturday.

The group held its annual celebration in memory of Joseph Washington and other lives lost to homicide.

Washington was an elderly man murdered in August of 2010.

He was an innocent bystander – shot dead. The family got unusual closure after Washington’s suspected killer was murdered.

Organizers invited families to this event for drama-free fun.

More than a hundred people attended the celebration.
